An experimental Linux Firefox Plugin to support WebP

I wrote about WebP the last days and this morning I cam along webp-npapi-linux, a Firefox Plugin that enables FF to display WebP images under Linux when used in the embed and object tags.

A plugin that enables the user to view WebP images supplied by the HTML-tags <object> and . The plugin is actively tested on Firefox but should support other NPAPI-compliant browsers on Linux.

In a first try I was not able to install this plugin and make it work with Firefox. The installation of libwebp succeeds without any problems but the plugin itself is not recognized by Firefox (yet). I will write something about it, when I manage o get this to work.

Would be interested in your experience with this tool.🙂
